Less than two years after losing her home and nearly her life in Hurricane Helene, and still without a permanent home, Eden has recently received a life-changing diagnosis and deeply needs our help.
Eden has been diagnosed with a form of bone marrow cancer that requires immediate treatment and a bone marrow transplant — the only known cure. She is meeting this moment with a clear heart, a clear mind, love, and freedom from fear. She is grateful to catch this diagnosis before it became leukemia or would have been too late.
We are hoping to raise $65,000 to help Eden relocate and begin treatment as quickly as possible. Your generosity will help cover moving costs, temporary housing, essential living expenses while she is unable to work, medical treatment, and therapies that support her healing. It is with extreme tenderness and compassion that we share this video offering a glimpse of the devastation caused by Hurricane Helen through the experience of our home in Black Mountain, North Carolina...alongside some reflections as a Buddhist teacher. We have just experienced the unfathomable. We lost our home and most of our belongings...and barely escaped to save our lives. It is a miracle that we are alive and we are forever grateful for the community support and resiliency we have experienced in the aftermath. So many people are suffering across the 5 states and every ounce of your support is needed. There are vital lessons for us to learn as we collectively learn how to consciously respond to climate crisis.
